Swap Meets & Flea Markets

San Diego County is lucky to have outdoor flea markets (we call them Swap Meets), every single weekend. Kobey’s Swap Meet near Sports Arena is the most well known, followed by the long-running community markets at National City Swap Meet, Escondido World Marketplace, and Spring Valley Swap Meet. The local swap meet scene is commonly used as a stepping stone for local vendors to try out secondhand businesses before making a leap to creating a store front or renting a booth at an antique mall. If you have family in town, Kobey’s can be a great (and inexpensive) option to experience local culture while also finding great deals on fruit, household items, plants, and of course vintage clothing and antiques.
Peak hours for any Swap Meet are typically between 10am–12pm on the weekends, and expect most vendors to begin packing up around 1pm. Entrance fees can vary between $.50–$4.00 depending on the day — Friday generally being the cheapest. Don’t expect vendors (or the Swap Meets themselves) to accept anything besides cash, so come prepared unless you want to pay a $4–5 surcharge to use an ATM on site.
